Rose began working with animals at a young age. Rose was raised on a ranch and was constantly working with animals. Throughout her childhood, she trained and worked with a variety of different herding dogs. Growing up, Rose also competed in several different rodeo events. Rose began her law enforcement career at the Rich County Jail in 1984. In 1988, she transferred to the Utah State Prison where she began working a dual purpose police dog. Rose completed a 12 week patrol/detector dog course through Alabama K-9. Rose worked with the fugitive apprehension team and utilized her K-9 to apprehend fugitives around the state. She also worked undercover operations. In late 1990, Rose went to work for the Salt Lake City Police Department. Within nine months, she was assigned to the K-9 unit. Over the next fourteen years, Rose worked four different service dogs for the department. Three of the dogs were dual purpose narcotic/patrol dogs. Rose also had the opportunity to work a single purpose explosive detection dog. Rose was assigned as a team leader for the explosive detection dogs at the 2002 Winter Olympics and 2002 Para-Olympics. She was on the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Committee. Rose was on the V.I.P Explosives Sweeps Unit and the Hazardous Device Unit. During her K-9 career, Rose competed at the National Police Dog Championships five different times. She placed 2nd overall in two of the competitions. She also place 4th one year. Rose also competed in the North American Police Dog Championships where she won 2nd overall. In 1997, Rose travelled to Germany where she was the first female to judge the International Police Dog Olympics. Rose also participated in Schutzhund from 1991-2000. During this time, Rose titled over 20 different dogs. Rose was also certified as a decoy. Rose was the vice president of the association from 1993-1999. Rose also showed numerous German Shepherd Dogs in the German Show Ring. Rose is certified through Utah Peace Officers Standards and Training as an explosive, narcotics, and patrol dog handler, instructor and judge. Rose is also an adjunct instructor/judge at Utah POST. She has trained over 750 police officers and their K-9 partners. Rose is recognized as an expert court witness. Rose is also recognized as a detector and patrol dog judge for South Dakota. She is also acknowledged as a detector and patrol dog instructor for Idaho. Rose has served as the Utah Delegate for the National congress for Police Service Dogs. While working for the Salt Lake City Police Department, Rose was able to attend and complete a variety of training. Rose completed SWAT school in 1991. She has been to various different bomb related training classes (first response to blast scenes, initial crime scene investigation with explosive detection dogs, etc). Rose also participated in developing the career incentive program for the police department. Rose is currently assigned to the patrol division at the police department.
